It’s well clearly 01:36 in the morning on a chilly 16th day of March in 2023 and after waking up to feed my youngest, grab myself my normal (which has been lately) peanut butter toast, I’ve taken the liberty to scroll social media. Ya know twitter, Facebook, TikTok cause ya know gotta see who’s trending what & what’s a hot topic. Upon scrolling such platforms I saying my mother used to mutter
“Ignorance is bliss, while knowledge is power”So, as that saying has I mean randomly popped into my head it’s interesting to realize the world lately is filled with a bunch of IGNORANT people that I swear aren’t aware of how ignorant they are let alone how smug they are when it comes to thinking they’re better than anyone and everyone.
I mean why must people assume things in general & no I’m not assuming most people are ignorant or smug if you really wanna understand that sit back and think of the last time recently that someone, a some people didn’t try to think they were better than you, higher class than you & just overall going places while you supposedly knew nothing, where nothing unless it benefitted them or made them look better on social media? I’ll wait because lately and this just doesn’t happen to me it’s happened to family and friends of mine it’s happening a lot more frequently and to be frank it’s embarrassing to know that it happens and nothing gets done about it, like it’s a social norm and way of life. But folks if we keep doing that aren’t we setting bad examples for our children? Are we not showing them and instilling in them behaviors that would cause utmost damage to self-esteem of one’s being?
Because those thoughts alone while running off the idea that you are smarter, better, richer, and just classier than another person because you’ve got people standing by your side, it’s redundant because would those people still be standing by your side if you stopped spending money on them, doing things for them, helping them out, so on and so forth, the answer is NO! They wouldn’t they’d have dropped you like a penny on the ground and they’d make you out to be the smug person on social media when in reality it’s the other way around, they’re the ignorant, smug, self-centered person who portrays themself to be someone else and has an image to maintain. That’s all today is on social media an image of who you’d want to be not who you are and because everyone is so ignorant {Educational Knowledge Power-trip here: Ignorance(Ignorant) is when someone lacks the knowledge, awareness or even skills} [Do not attack me saying I’m not using these words correctly I’m a college student seeking an associate degree in Criminal Justice for many various reasons]
Don’t get me wrong I’m by far from perfect I’ve been ignorant a few dozen more times than I’d like to admit but I’ll admit it. Have I acted smug oh hell yes 🙌🏻 am I proud of it no but I do it for my own inner sanity and peace lately yes, does it make it right- hell no.
So if people just started acting themselves on social media, educated themselves on many things & actually started caring for their family and friends wouldn’t the world be filled with a lot less set of ignorant people who acted smugly? I would sure thinks so but once that happens who stays family and friend because your no longer benefitting them because you’ve educated yourself, you changed times and learned things and realized things.
Well it’s now 01:57 and I’m ready to go back to sleep thanks for following the rambles of me at the wee hours.
